It appears that the search module is pretty strict. For example, searching for 'Jansen' correctly returns a single page with the title 'Frans Jansen'. I kind of expected the same result for 'ansen', but instead no results were returned. That's a little too strict for daily use if you ask me. Can I do something about this?

This is a language dependent
This is a language dependent thing-- d.o. uses the http://drupal.org/project/porterstemmer module (for english) to address this problem. I believe there are a few other modules for different languages-- using "type:project_project stemmer" in the search box above should find them.
There's also the http://drupal.org/project/fuzzysearch module.

This issue is on the feature request list since version 4. Maybe in version 7 it will make it?
