Description

Flipping between different themes I noticed that the breadcrumb trails weren't the same. I have my taxonomy set up like this:
Home > Plants > Pine Trees > Story about trees.

With "Show Current Term" selected, when I'm on the home page there is no breadcrumb in any theme and that's fine. However, when I start drilling down the behavior is different. For example, viewing plants in Garland only shows Home. In Zen Starter Kit it shows Home > Plants.

Viewing Pine Trees Garland and Zen Starter Kit show respectively:
Home > Plants
Home > Plants > Pine Trees

Viewing the node it's:
Home > Plants > Pine Trees
Home > Plants > Pine Trees > Distribution of Longleaf Pines

Things are also different when "Show Current Term" is not selected.

Viewing Plants, Garland and Zen Starter Kit show respectively:
Home
Home > Plants

Viewing Pine Trees it's:
Home > Plants
Home > Plants > Pine Trees

Viewing the node it's:
Home > Plants
Home > Plants > Distribution of Longleaf Pines

Obviously, the way Zen shows the breadcrumb for the node isn't desirable. Ideally, what I'd like is the behavior Zen is showing when "Show Current Term" is selected except that I don't want the node title to be displayed in the breadcrumb. How do I get the desired behavior and have it consistent across themes?
