I have a feeling this isn't possible as I've tried to do this unsuccessfully, but I thought I'd ask if there is some way to do this anyways. I need to place items in a block and don't want to create nodes for them. Any way to do this?

For me blocks are created automatically for each feed I create. If you need multiple feeds in one block, create a category and then show that category's block.

Actually I don't want those blocks, because I need groups with feeds, but those blocks are visible for everyone.

I also need this functionality and don't want to create nodes for feed items. I've added this as a feature request for 5.x.
