The main version of Syndication doesn't show up in my modules list, although the developer version does.

Sure it can't - the info file is missing... :-)

Try to copy the attached file into your syndication folder (and, rename it to syndication.info).

Nope, reopening. The .info file still does not exist in this release of the module. The .info file noted above works when manually added to the module's directory on a production site.
