Suggestions for Photo gallery?

I've just installed Drupal and would like to setup a photo gallery and upload them from my Windows XP system. Any suggestions for a newbie?
thanks,
Carlton.

Key modules

Install the Image module, which includes photo gallery support. It's the foundation of most Drupal image handling and creates a node for each image you upload.

The Image module includes a batch-import facility that works if you have FTP access to your site and can upload a whole folder of jpegs.

The Image Publishing module (which works hand-in-hand with the Image module) will let you do batch uploads direct from Windows XPs's publishing wizard, but it has not yet been upgraded to work with Drupal 6.

If I were you, I'd reinstall Drupal using 5.7, add the Image and Image Publishing modules, and go from there. I like Image Publishing a lot, as it not only supports XP's wizard, but also the Gallery Remote Java applet, iPhoto on the Mac, and several Linux photo tools.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Thanks for the suggestion, but being new to Drupal and FreeBSD what is the best way to reinstall with 5.7? I'm very new to FreeBSD so any command help would be appreciated.
thanks,
Carlton.

Or you could use the CCK

Or you could use the CCK approach, that is the way I have created the imagegalleries at drupalfun.com (under media)
