I received an email today from the Libertarian Party asking me to check out their new website. I noticed that it was built with Drupal so I figured I would post the link.

This might have been better placed in the Showcase forum.

Drupal is a fitting choice for the Libertarian Party.

Is this the first 2-letter domain Drupal site?

i like the www.lp.org website. it is fast for a drupal site. is it because it is using akaimai? http://builtwith.com/lp.org
contrast it with http://www.nysenate.gov/

nysenate.gov is slow, very slow, and it is also built with drupal --- and it was show-cased in the drupal front page and everybody thought it was good !? but it is slooooowww.

drupal is a great cms but unfortunately it does have a performance issue --- but so does joomla, zope/plone, etc.

hope that the drupal team will improve performance in drupal 7.

There are many issues which make a Drupal site slow down.

- Hosting: if it is hosted on a hosting with limited resources.
- Redundant modules: sometimes when you bundle Drupal core with many redundant modules, it causes the site to run slowly.

I have experienced this thing, when we use a Drupal packages with many modules, it was too slow. We have to re analyze and build that site from the Drupal core with only necessary modules. Finally it runs smoothly.

Drupal is a great framework, you just need to play with it more to get what you need.

now i am tempted to give drupal another shot....

More than a dozen libertarian web sites use Drupal:

Somebody oughta make a site showcase module. Maybe Acquia could share theirs...
