You could make a block

You could make a block instead and add the same content in that block. Then place the block in the right sidebar or anywhere u like.
Or you could possibly use one of the several ad modules available at drupal like http://drupal.org/project/ad. They will make a lot of things easier.

Put the code right in the block.

One of the great advantages of Drupal is the ability to make block and place the content directly into them.

For the ads on our sites we us OpenX (formerly Open Ads) to serve the ads and place the invocation code directly into the blocks. It is super simple. It also works for Google AdSense ads as well.

Do don't both creating Advertisements as a content type, just make them blocks.
