When you select a certain number of 'comments per page', the links to those comments in the blocks or even when someone writes a new comment don't go to where you'd expect them to go - that is, to that comment. In other words, the links go to the node home page at comment #x but the comment doesn't appear on that page because the #x is higher than the number per page.

e.g. a link may go to:
node/7#comment-84

whilst it should instead go to e.g.:
node/7?from=30&comments_per_page=30#comment-86

I can't believe that no one else has ever had this problem. Yes, I could increase the number of comments per page, but often we can have threads over 300 posts long.

this is the biggest problem for me at the moment stopping a site migration from vBulletin (or phpBB) to drupal

Hello,

I have the same issue. You can only increase the comments per page to 90. A simple solution may be to show all comments on the one page, however this would be a large download for some of the longer threads.
