G2's URL rewrite leads nowhere

hey there.

I've noticed that G2's URL rewrite plugin works pretty well if it's not embedded. if it is - at least in Drupal 5.7 - there is no working around this bug: I can't access galleries (or gallery images for that matter) inside Drupal.

clicking any gallery on the main page only leads me to - you guessed it - the main page.

the only way to embed Gallery2 in Drupal is to deactivate G2's URL rewrite. but from a SEO point of view, that totally defeats the purpose.

I've been to quite the lot of forums, including G2's own, but info is always incomplete or inaccurate - or both.

what I have learned, though, is that Gallery2 seems to use Drupal as its CMS - and they have short URLs. how is that possible?

I thank anyone who can help me figure this out. I like G2 and I'd love to chip in on the project, but I can't afford to deploy a buggy system for my customers. at least not with a bug in such a vital part.

just one more thing: please do keep from sending patches. I - and other designers like me - don't understad squat about patching. if we're supposed to do programming tasks, then why use a CMS in the first place? ;] so if it's not too much trouble, any non-DIY-patch help would be very welcome indeed.
