jGrowl for notifications

I recently came across, jGrowl, and I think it would be pretty cool to use as a notification system or something. Go here to check it out http://stanlemon.net/projects/jgrowl.html#samples

Maybe if you have a new private message, then you get a pop up If there is already something similar point me in the right direction.
