Being I have a idea which way I want to go this should give you a starting point. I would like a design similar to my main site design with similar colors.
Your referenced theme is very clean and very nice. As far as price goes I am unsure the complexity of drupal themes but I was thinking around a $100.00 US let me know what you think. An area that I would want some extra design focus is in the syndicated news areas.
I am hoping to drum up some support with the drupal developers to have someone put in some extra work on the import.module that has had haphazard improvements since January. As my plan is to have a high number of feeds but in the current design the syndicated news layout could be improved. It is not pratical to have a 500 feeds listed.
Anyway that will come down the road in the meantime I will let you get back with me on your design thoughts..

i know looknfeel of a site seems like something that is yours, esp when having paid for it. but please consider releasing the theme under gpl. drupal needs more themes!

I suppose I would not have a problem with that. Thus far no takers so I will have to wait and see. I have been having a lot of fun digging thru all of the options but wide adoption needs theme designers I guess it's just a matter of time until crtical mass is reached.
I will design themes all day for the right price :)

New theme system
Now that Drupal has a major change in its theme system, it's said to be much more flexible and cleaner. The downside is, except for the boring, core themes, none of the older contributed themes work anymore. Drupal desperately needs more themes. This big change seems like a perfect opportunity to do a couple on speculation and sell them, ibanez.
