People come to irc and ask about node.load. Node is a core module.

node.load is a service method that does (almost) the same thing as core's node_load, but opens it up as a service so you can load nodes over xmlrpc, etc. It was intentionally named node.load to match core's node_load. The methods included in the Services module are meant to interact with core, thus the naming convention.
More explanation would be great.
