hi, the search feature of drupal (http://drupal.org/search) has been down for some time now, so i cant search to see if this question has already been asked.

1) how does one globally (for the whole site) edit the footer information of a site

2) also, how does one determine what version of drupal they are using?

For example: search for "footer site:http://drupal.org" gives a fair amount of hits as you can see from the resulting link
