During installation of advertisement I got the following message
Missing vocabulary node type for advertisements, attempting to auto-fix.
warning: Missing argument 2 for variable_get(), called in /home/*****/public_html/sites/all/modules/ad/ad.module on line 2552 and defined in /home/nvqweb/public_html/includes/bootstrap.inc on line 412.

This appears to autofix and the module appears to be working but I then had a mysql gone away error when I go to the check for updates. Also attempts to use drop result in a cron failed error.
My host has increased the php memory up to 30 and I have uninstalled and reinstalled these modules. This has helped but I am still left with the cron failed error.
Any suggestions?

jeremy commentedThe warnings are already fixed in the development branch of the code.
Regarding your cron failed error -- do you get any errors in your Apache error_log? How do you know the problem is from the ad module?
