This morning there were some issues with drupal.org which caused, among other things, the home page to be blank, the forum listing claiming that there were no forums and, perhaps most confusingly, multiple e-mails to be sent to you if you have submitted an issue to the issue queue. These bugs seem to stem from the use of the memcache module which improves the performance of drupal.org. So, this is not symptomatic of a problem with Drupal core. The same problem appeared about 2 weeks ago.

There have also been instances in the past two weeks where drupal.org will display a maintenance screen saying that the database server has been lost. These issues are not necessarily related but more investigation is necessary to make a definite conclusion.

The drupal.org infrastructure team is working hard to understand why this happened and make sure it doesn't happen again.

In case it helps, I got 22 emails between 1:46 AM CDT and 5:22 AM CDT all about a Pathauto module issue at http://drupal.org/node/201151.

I also received notifications for this issue on these days in 2008:

  • June 16
  • June 4 (9 notifications)
  • April 27
  • March 18

I have also received these emails:

This is based on a search of my email. It is possible that I have received more and have deleted them, but I do not specifically remember deleting any emails like this.

What confuses me is:

  1. There is no rhyme or reason for these emailed updates. They seem to happen randomly.
  2. I only get notified for a small percentage of the issues I have open.

Don't forget to check your spam filter in your mailbox. Your filter may misinterpret this bug as spam and will now probably block the sender's e-mail address.

Now I realize how high are the importance of Search feature...

Now that we don't have the Search input text enabled... we are... (at least me)... completely LOST!

Do you know when are you going to restore it?

Thanks guys!

You can always search d.o. with google-- just include "site:drupal.org" with your keywords.
