I am a fan of Drupal and spend a lot of time at drupal.org, following the new topics, modules & themes. However many times the search function is disabled during high traffic or when I am not logged in. I had been using the Google CSE block for myself, however I thought it would be fun to share it with all the community. So I spend a evening creating a page, registered a domain and walla we have the Drupal Search Engine.

The search engine is pretty self revealing give it a spin and let me know any feedbacks.

Don't miss out the refinement just above your search results which can help you narrow down the results (hopefully a plus over drupal.org search).

Hi Great idea, but when I

Hi
Great idea, but when I tried out the search terms "modules" or "recipe" (had recipe module in mind", there were simply no results. Am I doing something wrong or misunderstood something?

Give it another spin

There was a problem with the .htaccess. It should be working now.

Searchdrupal.org seems a bit better

Victor nice idea.

I checked out your site, but it seems that http://searchdrupal.org has one (actually a few) up on you. They have broken out the various areas of the drupal site and have made it quite easy to search each of them. Maybe you should look into doing the same.

I also just found out about the module finder at drupalmodules.com http://drupalmodules.com/module-finder. That's very useful too!

Matt, The idea was to share

Matt,

The idea was to share with the community what I already use for my own search. Ofcourse the best would be to have a working drupal search.
I also like drupalmodules and it is a great resource. Its a good thing to have people more options.

I like it

I like it, couldn't resist, searched Prime357 and walla, all appeared.

I was also a bit frustrated

I was also a bit frustrated trying to find the native drupal search function - I think the site should at least have a messgae somewhere telling people why its been disabled - I was pulling my hair out trying to find it through the site, until i came to this thread, thanks Victor, great work on your search site!

Module search

If you're looking for modules, definitely check out Module Finder. It searches as you type, highlighting your keywords in real-time, and it even shows module ratings! Disclaimer: It's my project ;)

PS: Isn't it kind of ironic to run blog.drupalsearch.org on blogger? ;p
