new region in Salamander6

I am wanting to I pass from Drupal5 to Drupal6. I saw that of the things are changed in the management of the subjects.
I continued the leader to resolve my problem but unfortunately not there I succeed.
The matter is simple: instead of to have a structure so
user1 - user2 - user3
...
user4 - user5 - user6
I would like to have:
user1 - user2 - user3 - user4
centrale
user5 - user6 - user7 - user8

How written in the leader I changed first salamander.info then template.php and then page.tpl.php but I do not succeed absolutely to understand where mistake seen that does not visualize myself the new regions. Unfounded your courtesy to ask you of to help resolve me this problem.
