What does the Multiple Values Option do in Imagefield?

It allows for adding more than one image (one at a time).

I would like to use the multiple select option in D6 (eg max 10 images). As a result, the forms shows 10 attach image fields. In D5, it showed only 1, and each time the user uploaded an image, a new field appeared, until the maximum number was reached. Did I overlook a setting to configure this in D6?

i saw something similar, tons of blank fields - i changed it to unlimited, cleared cache and it normalized...not sure if has to do with number defining all optional fields (versus 'keep adding until you hit 10')...unless you're terrified of users passing ten images, it may not be a big deal - particularly since you can use imagecache presets to keep them all tiny...
