I'm having an issue trying to get any of the Best Scoops blocks to appear. I've tried placing them both in the sidebars and in panels that I have created with no success. The blocks appear in my blocks list in both the block admin page and in panels, but the place where the blocks are supposed to appear on the page is completely empty and firebug shows that there is no content there. The Best Karma block appears properly, and the stories appear to function as they should on the homepage, just no output to the block for any of the Best/Upcoming Scoops.

Related/Unrelated- The only user that appears to be able to vote is the admin role.

Any ideas on where to start looking to troubleshoot this, like a specific view or dependency I should check?

Hi,

I am not sure what this could be. There are no dependencies, or anything like that.
The code doesn't have any particular conditions.

Can you please play with it a little more, and let us know if you get somewhere?

Hmm, not sure what is going on. It's hard to troubleshoot because nothing is appearing at all. I've tried renaming the block in the configure menu, switching themes (4plus and Drigg default) doesn't seem to matter, and changing the position of the block using both panels and admin/block functions.

The only clues I have so far is that no role other than admin can vote, even though there doesn't seem to be any permission dependencies for voting, and I notice that with the Drigg Queue enabled, no stories appear in either the pub approved Published or Unpublished lists.

Some bug in the categories? But then wouldn't there be no stories on the front page? Submission and such seems to be working fine......

Hi,

Sorry, this bug has become way too messy. I am not sure what is wrong anymore. Please open a new bug and describe exactly what problem you're having.

Please test things using drig_distr.tgz, which is a preconfigured version of Drigg (it's basically Drigg, using exactly the steps described in the installation guide).

I'm going to try a reinstall anyway. I'm using drigg as a component of my site, so something may have broken along the way to full configuration. I'll update if this issue if the problem goes away upon reinstall.

Okay, thanks to your help Merc I figured it out. It is sort of a RTFM problem. The Best Scoops block only appears if the content falls within the age requirements of a "recent" Best Scoop. The scoop content for my site was added all at once (imported from my previous site) and so by the time I got to working with the Drigg settings, my content was considered old by Best Scoops standards. If no content meets the view requirements the Best Scoops block doesn't appear at all, which was confusing since I thought the Best Scoops title block would appear and act as a placeholder.

So I added a few new stories and viola, the block reappeared. Problem Solved.
