We now have a BETA version of Subscriptions for Drupal 6 (see the front page).

Since it's a BETA version, you should not install it on a production site, but please do test it and provide feedback.

If it works for you, let us know by adding a note to this issue here.

If you find a bug, please check the issues queue, and if it hasn't been reported yet, then open a new issue!

This will be a big help for managing the beta test. Thank you!

I have used it for a couple of days now, and it works fine. Everything works so far.

I am currently running 6.3, everything works fine, except I never received any notification email, in the watchdog table, nothing shows email were sent out.

I get an error message in the Module Summary for the "Moderate Content Notification":

"This version is incompatible with the 6.4 version of Drupal core."

Is there an updated version?

salvis’s picture

No, there isn't. Please open a new issue and select the MCN component.

BETA2 is out, with support for Mail Editor and CCK as well as many bug fixes.

I'm testing it on drupal 6.4 and it seems to work fine.

Version: 6.x-1.0-beta2 » 6.x-1.0-beta3

This fixes all known bugs in BETA2.

Please also test mail_edit 6.x-1.x-dev — it should work fine, with one exception: If you have left-over mail_edit 5.x-1.* tables, you can't install 6.x-1.*.
I'm currently working on an upgrade path for mail_edit, see #318324: Upgrade strategy D5 -> D6 ?.

I recently upgraded my site from D5.3 to D6.4. I had subscriptions running on my D5 site before the upgrade and they worked fine. I was running subscriptions-5.x-1.9.

I understand that there was no “uninstall” feature for the subscriptions module for D5. I totally deleted all files for the D5 subscriptions module before upgrading. I did not delete the database tables for subscriptions before upgrading – I am too scared/ignorant to touch any database tables, and besides, I wanted my site to remember who had subscribed to what.

When I first installed the subscriptions module for D6 it would not work – I got those big scary red tables on the subscriptions settings page saying that it was missing some tables. I then ran the uninstall script in D6 (on the modules page). That ran without any errors i.e. no big red warning tables. I then switched the subscriptions module back on. Now everything looks fine, and the module is sending subscriptions, but only to those users who have subscribed to categories SINCE the upgrade.

In other words, during the upgrade the record of who had subscribed to what was lost and the module for D6 is not finding the tables that D5 must have been looking at to remember who had subscribed to what. D6 seems to be creating its own record of who has subscribed to what

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Regards
Michael

This works great. I think it is ready for a release.

salvis’s picture

Thank you, gustav. There's one important piece still missing: the upgrade path for the mail templates.

I've posted a patch for mail_edit at #318324: Upgrade strategy D5 -> D6 ?, and when that is committed, I'll post another beta that will enable Subscriptions to migrate the D5 templates to D6.

Right now we're blocked on #318324: Upgrade strategy D5 -> D6 ?. Please review that patch over there and mark it RTBC.

Title: BETA3 for D6 » BETA4 for D6
Version: 6.x-1.0-beta3 » 6.x-1.0-beta4

This fixes all known bugs in BETA3 and with the cooperation of mail_edit, it finally provides an upgrade path for your templates (see #318324: Upgrade strategy D5 -> D6 ?).

I'm extremely interested in hearing from anyone upgrading a D5 site to D6, along with Subscriptions and Mail Editor.

I have a feature request, I'd like to have a feature implemented where users could subscribe at a book level, so that they would be notified whenever a node in a certain book is modified or a new child node is added. I've tried implementing this myself, but I'm having trouble working with the API.

Paul Schorfheide

Title: BETA6 for D6 » RC1 for D6

With the exception of #350077: Maximum number of notification to send per cron job breaks Digest mode we've had no issues reported for BETA6, so here's RC1 for a last quick review. Let's aim for a release before Drupalcon!

As always, if you find a bug, please open a new issue, because it's very difficult to deal with multiple subjects in one thread.

I'm happy to announce that Subscriptions 6.x-1.0 is out!

This is a great release, with an impressive list of enhancements and fixes. Due to the interest caused by the porting effort, we have received a lot of great feedback that has gone into this release, and we have taken ample time to test it thoroughly. Much of your feedback has also benefited the D5 version.

Thanks to all who have contributed!
