non-profit site - which modules?

orbgasm - June 23, 2008 - 01:00

I'm fairly new to Drupal, but am digging the capabilities this CMS boasts.

So I'm going to be building a non-profit site that is like kiva.org, but would like some feedback before I start digging too extensively through the available modules.

I've decided to go with the 5.x install as most of the modules that I have been told will be useful are post-development for 5.x only. So far I'm going with views, panels, cck, and a few other miscellaneous items such as captcha and imageapi + imagecache.

Can anyone offer any more input as to how I can create a similar percentage bar that is used for most profiles on kiva.org? The site will use paypal only for payments, and I'm not even 100% on which paypal module I should be installing. Externally linking to the paypal site seems to be an option, but this will cause the user to stray from the site itself, so is not preferable!

I would be glad to provide more details if necessary.

Thanks!

Any new insight

It has been over a year since you posted this question. I want to know if you have located the modules you need to put the kiva.org type of site together?

Lots change around here in a year, but at this time for profile percent there's the http://drupal.org/project/pcp module and for paypal processing there's the http://drupal.org/project/lm_paypal module.

I appreciate your help. You are the first person out of several developer forums that has actually provided information directly related to this particular subject.
I do have some additional questions and will be sure to post in the forum so others may be helped as well. I see that you provide Drupal related services but I did not see a link to your site. I may be in need of your services. If you have a site that outlines the services you provide please refer the URL.

Thanks again
