It looks like this module does the same as Vocabulary Index. It's the general opinion not to create loads of modules that do the same thing.

i see that these deal with the same areas taxonomy and navigation, but i don't see how they do the same thing. perhaps you can explain a little more of how you see these two modules doing the same thing.

Both modules produce lists of terms within a single vocabulary. If I recall correctly what this module does can be easily achieved using Views as well. Can't be more precise, it's been a while since I tested your module.
