The title says it all.

When I click on a link in the activity stream to the local node of the the item on the site, I get WSOD and Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/admin/public_html/olfscdev/includes/theme.inc on line 555

I am thinking I might start out trying a different theme, to see if it is theme related (using garland right now)

I can't reproduce this at all or find any reason why it might be happening. Do you have a themename_link function in your template.php?

That error normally happens when you use a 4.7 theme on a 5.x site.
