What would be the best way to develop a node type based off of the Invite module? I can see nonprofit and political organizations using multiple invite forms encouraging their users to invite their friends to do a specific action in a particular area of their site. Where to start?

I think if you add the two functionalities of reporting stats and the abilities of the Drupal Contact List importer (http://drupal.org/project/dcl_importer), I think you have real winner!
