Is this buddylist2 Ready? I see it mentioned in the docs and know buddy list works. Does it require a code tweak on our behalf to get this done? Would this be the same situation for APK?

Not unless it uses the same API. I use buddylist 1 and don't have any plans to use buddylist 2. If someone wants to provide a patch that has some way of differentiating between versions, I'll use it, but this isn't something I'll be doing myself.
