Time period is very short

Unless you hire a group or company the time period is very short. Even with finished modules and theming one person would have to work around the clock to get even close.

Yes, agreed on timetable ...

backdrifting - June 25, 2008 - 12:09

I agree on the timetable issue: 2-3 weeks for such a large scale project is unrealistic. I'd advise moving this up to a 2-3 month project/timetable.

We're pretty much capable of anything and have worked on large corporate sites before.

additional info

Jurgen_w - June 25, 2008 - 17:28

Ok, do not panic on the timetable issue. Maybe I detailed my needs to much ;-). Let’s take the cape-epic.com site as a reference and described all the needed and “special” features:

1. Nice fancy header, an eyecatcher

- With every page click the main picture switch to another one. Some flash effects in it would be nice. If you click on the header you will be forwarded to the homepage

2. Menu1 (comes under the header, not in cape epic)

- Just a regular menu built up in CSS is ok, although flash would be nice to spice things up.

3. News horizontal slider

- Like in the cape-epic example. If you click on the news sliders you will be redirected to the specific story. We must have control (trough admin panel…?) which item(s) appears on the slider. Don’t know if this is an exciting module in Drupal.

4. Advertise banner

- The large banner under the header will be used as a place for paid advertisement. Every x seconds a new advertisement will appear. If you click on it, you will be forwarded to the homepage of the advertiser. This can be made in flash, it doesn’t need to change frequently or use a module like Rotorbanner. There must by a small link “advertising here?” at the bottom of the banner which forwards you to our contact page. So no special Drupal stuff here…

5. On the left there will be a second menu
6. No polls needed on the website

7. The content zone:

- A - We want to put 4 stories on the homepage, arranged just like in the example. Always with a small picture equal in size (width). Little intro text, button to read full story, button to read all the news in that specific section….Standard Drupal code can be used, with a little bit of tweaking?

- B - Under those 4 stories there must be something like this (case 2)

http://www.2joomla.net/2jnewsslider/2j-news-slider-demo.html

In this section appears the latest posts and small picture of our members blogs (5-15 members). If you click on it…I guess you know what will happen ;-)

You will be redirected to that specific member blog post, just a regular blog…There must be also an link/button to an upper level and to view all the blog entries of that member. One level higher you can choose the blog of which member you want to use. This is also accessible via Menu 2 -> Blogs -> blog A / Blog B /…./ Blog x…whooof difficult to explain ;-) Just click here to see what I mean

http://www.cape-epic.com/content.php?page_id=81&blogsbyrider=1&title=/Ri...

8. Right bar

- A - Sponsor banner : Same like large Advertise banner, see #4…Drupal (eg rotor banner, or flash)…Although I prefer flash for graphics reasons

- B - Upcoming events banner: This must be changed frequently so a Drupal module is preferred to insert new pictures (event logo) on weekly base

- C - Photo gallery banner: Link to our gallery, picture rotate every x seconds. A photo gallery like in Cape epic would be nice

http://www.cape-epic.com/content.php?page_id=70

- D - Button/banner the “rider zone” just forwarding you to the “sign in” page

- E - Button/banner the “visit our forum” just forwarding you to the “forum” (setting up forum is not included in this project)

- F - Spotlight banner: On older story that we put back in the picture. A Drupal module is needed here since it change frequently. Maybe we put this on the left side instead of the poll

9. Footer

Just a footer…with some appearance of our sponsors.

10. Additional pages

* There will also be some static page which we want to fill in with an WYSIWYG editor, Something like tinyMCE would be nice. We need to put text, pictures, tables, links on the static pages
* A textbox to do a simple search
* RSS feed
* subscribe to a news letter

So…that’s it. I agree, not just a simple Theme. But definitely not an exotic project with complicated modules

Simple enough. But, We're
