Hi there.

I have unpacked the gzipped tarball into my modules directory, but syndication has not appeared on my modules list.

Am I missing something obvious, or this a bug?

Hello:

I tried installing the 5.x-1.1 version of syndication module also and the same thing happened to me. It looks like the .info file is missing.
