I am reading a lot about installing fmpeg...and i keep reading "on your machine"....i know it is some type of hardware but....i know it's not my pc that would be too perfect...is this what i read about called a dedicated server? or is this something i can by at comp usa? *crossing fingers* or is it my pc!....how much will the cost range be for this machine....dang i just heard a whole drupal community roll there eyes but yeah...i really don't know what a machine is....back to reading ffmpeg install info hoping to figure out what a machine is. thanks in advance for answering my stupid question.

The machine would be the server on which Drupal resides, assuming that you're talking about adding this to Drupal. Your message isn't clear on that point.

thanks for your reply...here's one place it's written http://drupal.org/node/173170 at the bottom of there question they said their own "local machine"....that's the first one i read...but now I'm reading a tutorial on building a video site and they are teaching how to instal ffmpeg on your machine...i downloaded ffmpeg to my pc but that don't seem right.

That's true. Wherever you're creating a Drupal site, that's where you would have to have ffmpeg, as well as several other packages. This is assuming that your server runs on Linux/Unix and not Windows.
