Well is up to you, IMO Drupal is boosting too expand exponentially!!
Result:
Drupal: 5.960.766 hits
Joomla: 4.408.054 hits
Wordpress: 2.970.340 hits
Interesting, but...
Interesting, but to be honest I don't understand your matrix. Why search only three domains when you can search the whole internet? People who publish content on drupal.org, joomla.org and wordpress.org obviously already know about CMS'es, so you could consider them the least interesting target group.
Let's search the whole internet:
Google:
About 238.000.000 results for wordpress
About 98.100.000 results for joomla
About 25.200.000 results for drupal
Yes, Wordpress has almost 10 times as much search results as Drupal. Joomla still 'beats' us by a factor 4. But is it important? I think not. The fact is that this doesn't tell me anything about popularity (I wouldn't know how to define it in the first place). For instance:
- Maybe, the Wordpress results contain 95% of duplicates
- Maybe, the amount of Joomla results can be explained by the default 'powerd by joomla' footer
- Maybe, 50% of the Drupal results are test sites of people who didn't like it and never look at it again
The truth is: we just don't know.
If you want to measure popularity, I think the best way to is how Google Zeitgeist does it: Not measuring the number of search results, but measuring the number of people that actually look for it. And guess what? Google wouldn't be Google if they didn't have a tool for this. Check Google Trends to see how the three CMS'es compare.
Hi, firts thanks for your
Hi, firts thanks for your reply. As the title of my posting it was a small and instictive search. I looked for only those 3 because of luck of time to go deeper. As I did did I kept in mind that the word "Wordpress" was surely popular before the CMS with the same name was released (I just guess, I'm not an expert). Loooking for the tree CMS names in the respective hosted Domains just was intentionally as I wanted to figure out how many person use the CMS Name in the content of the Domain it self. Maybe my explanation is not rightfull and clearly exposed.
So I noted that in the Sites of "Wordpress" they realtively speak or ask or argument very less about "Drupal" & "Joomla". This may be irrilevant in general but I thouth that this is because "Wordpress" is targeting especially BLOG users. Of course would be interesting to go deeper in that but I have no knoledge and the necessary time to fullfill an intensive Query research of that caliber.
To be Honest i do not trust "Google Trends" and similar statistics procedures, by occasion I rely about Internet Open Source and also Commercial software Information and evaluation the expert class. This was really a spontaneus Query I thouth it could be interest our comunity a bit.
Happy to have reached You with it, again Thanks
Cheers
P.S. The most important reason I publish this little query is that the discussion about Drupal on the three different Hosts ( Drupal.org - Wordpress.org - Joomla.org) is the most broad band. In simple words I as a Drupalist and supporter are happy that: "Drupal" is the most discussed CMS in this limited Query !!
