Hi,

I urgently need to set up a relatively simple e-shop. I decided to use Drupal with e-Commerce. However, to my consternation, I am unable to organize the products into hierarchical categories. All my products show right under the Products menu link. I spent several hours researching on the Internet, but I did not arrive at a solution. Could you, please, advise me, how to aproach the problem? I am really surprised that such an elementary functionality is not available. I do not feel like looking for another solution, this must be solvable, for heaven' sake.

Sorry for the tone of this posting, but I am under time preause and really upset about this problem. Any help will be appreciated.

By hierarchical categories do you mean, for example:

Fruit
--Apples
---Type 1
---Type 2
--Oranges
---Type 1
---Type 2

If so, this is done by creating a vocabulary and terms. Have you tried this?

Incidentally, I'd suggest you go with Ubercart, it is much easier to use.

For example, I need to divide my products into several categories, let us say mobile phones, MP3 players, FM receivers etc. I can attach a product to a menu item as a regular page. However, I cannot create a page where several products would be listed.

but I am unable to assign a category to a product. Just the corresponding field is not there. If I create a regular page, I see a pull down menu for selecting a category.

You need to assign terms to the vocabulary. For Oranges, for example, I added two terms -- Type 1 and Type 2. Once you do that for your vocabularies, you will see the corresponding listings under the pull down menu.

The first time I tried it I made a mistake. Upon reading your message I tried it again and I found out that I had forgotten to check the proper category (product). For this reason I could not categorize any product.

Anyway, thank you, I have made substiantial progress. My next question is how I can customize the page. It look pretty much as I expect, just I want to get rith of those "add to cart" links and make the visitor enter the product page anytime he/she want to buy the product. The reason is that some products (e.g. apparel) have subcategories (sizes, colors).

I am not sure I can help you without seeing your page. Either add a link here or send me a message through my contact form and I will try to assist.

Hi both

I had the excact same problem as Robert, but i solved it by using vocabularies and terms. And that's just great, BUT ...... how do I make a menu out of it?

In my right sidebar i want the terms to be listet as clickable menu items. How do I do that?

Look at the taxonomy block module, it may help. There are also php code snippets that will group content with a common taxonomy in list format.

Thank you for your answer.

The taxonomy block module don't do the job.

I want the TERMS to be listet. Like this:

Products
-- Products for him
-- -- Electronic
-- -- Games
-- Products for her
-- -- Parfume
-- -- Shoes

But the taxonomy block modules doesn't list the terms - it list the NODES (all the products).

Any other suggestions?

I am trying to create two separate catalogs
Catalogs
--Catalog Literature
-- -- Finescreen Datasheet
-- --Bandscreen Datasheet
-- Catalog Promo Goods
----Shirts
----Hats
How can i get it to redirect to the specific catalog they were using.

I go to store administration>configuration>cart settings> edit

I can set a link but i want to be able to set separate links depending of where what category they were shopping on. for example if they are under the literature catalog i want it to bounce them back to the literate catalog. Right now i can only get it to come back to the catalogs page.
