I'm running 6.2, and I'm unsure as to how I upgrade outdated (unsupported) modules. For example, upgrading CCK beta-2 to beta-4, etc. Do I just replace the files on the destination? I thought there was an update script that needs to be run, but I'm unsure of that as well.

remove the old folder
upload the new folder

goto adminsiter -> status logs
if you have to update the DB, you will have a warning at the top of the page

if you have that warning, point your browser to yoursite.com/update.php which is in the drupal root.

NOTE: BACKUP your DB first!
