Can't use if access content isn't allowed for anonymous

If Node module - Access Content is not set to allow Anonymous Users then simply returns a permission denied, even though using API Keys. I'm cross posting this to services in general cause seems to be maybe it is a problem inherent with it cause same things happens with the REST server.
