An Asian snack and drink review site -- www.youtasteit.com
Who loves Asian snacks and drinks? For those of you who don't, why not? Are you afraid of trying new things or afraid of wasting your money? Well, don't worry any more. My review site www.youtasteit.com will dispel all of your worries. It is a website where users can review Asian products such as Vitasoy, Pocky, and many others. If a product isn't listed, a user can easily fill out a simple form and/or pictures and hopefully a few brave souls will test and review the product.
What's the purpose of your site?
To provide relevant reviews of Asian snacks and drinks. This, in turn, may stimulate the economy by encouraging consumers to go out and buy something and reward themselves when they discover a new favorite snack.
Why I chose Drupal?
Besides Drupal being implemented in PHP, I liked the module and theme model they use. In addition, there were many wonderful modules the community already built which I didn't have to do much work. I developed the site in 5.x because at the time, 6.x was new and not all of the modules I wanted were ported to 6.x.
Which modules did I use?
A few of the modules I used are adsense, fivestar, nodereview, views, and workflow. I believe fivestar and nodereview are the heart of my website. Without those two, my website wouldn't function. Obviously, adsense is to make a little money on the site. Workflow allows me or a content manager to proofread and edit the submitted products (but this doesn't include comments). Views should be self explanatory.
Which theme did I use?
I used the default Garland theme. There are many good themes available and I spent a good day testing them out. But, I will be creating my own theme in the near future since the Garland theme doesn't really fit well with food. A food site should be colorful!
Closing remarks?
The website is still a work in progress. I believe the biggest todo is attracting and convincing visitors to visit and revisit the site. In addition, I love Drupal! Once again, the website is www.youtasteit.com.

wrong link to your site
hi, for some reason, you have put in the wrong link to your site, its going to
http://drupal.org/node/www.youtasteit.com
instead of http:www.youtasteit.com
there have been no changes to the garland theme. its not really a showcase, there arent even any pictures of the dishes on the front page! a total must of a food site! the recipes do sound delicious though.
Thanks for the suggestions
Each food item has 1 to N pictures. I guess I could randomly pick one when displaying it on the front page. I'm not sure if I want to show all of the pictures since it may increase latency.
As for the theme, yes I admit I'm still using the default Garland theme. It's hard to design a new one when I have the artistic creativity of a Borg since I'm a programmer not an artist. I'll have to work at it ASAP.
Here's the link again for interested members: http://www.youtasteit.com.
