Author disappears from listings and nodes, except for Book; and Field Defaults are reset [#277434]

Something very weird is going on with my install of Biblio. I have Biblio 6.x-1.x-dev 2008-jun-29 installed. Fresh install, no upgrade of an earlier version.
I have changed just a bit: hidden some biblio types I don't use, customized which fields should appear for each content type...
Then I added a publication for each of the six types I have (Book, Journal, Thesis, Report...). At this point everything was working as it should. Now I changed a little more, like unselecting 'DOI' field, etc., for some bilbio types, and changed the order of one or two items. Now for some content types, the authors simply won't show up! When I edit the node, the author name is there, but it does not show up in the listing or the full node view.
Then I tried changing some of the field defaults, because I noticed the Column 'Common' was all empty - even though biblio_contributors and biblio_year are 'required'. Then the author for the Book I entered did show up, but no matter what I change for the other Biblio types, their authors don't show (I tried changing the Author weight and all different Styles and Node layouts).
I also noticed that at Field Defaults the 'Common' Column keeps getting emptied. When I save it it's there, and when I change a tab and go back the selections are saved, but at some point they get lost.

I have a feeling these things are connected, any clues?

I also noticed that publications without an author don't show up with the standard sorting set to Author, which I have. When sorting by Content Type they do show. Perhaps an empty author field should be listed on the very end or beginning when sorting by Author name?

I believe the issue of disappearing authors has been resolved in beta8.

I haven't been able to reproduce the "common column" problem. When you say it gets emptied, is that the entire column or just one field?

The publications without authors issue has not been resolved at this point, but I'll set it up so there is a section which lists them.

Great! Beta8 fixed disappearing author problem.

In the 'common column' all selected fields were indeed unselected after some operation, don't know which one, in the -dev version.

Any reason why in my available updates report Drupal reports beta8 to be revoked? I just downloaded and installed it ;)

Hi Arjan,

Good to hear that fixed the author problem. If you are able to determine which action clears those common flags let me know, and I'll dig through the code a bit to see where that might be happening.

As for the available updates issue... When I originally posted that this morning, there was an error in the build process and I didn't notice/fix it until late this afternoon, so that may have had something to do with it.
