In previous releases the selected avatar was identified with a color frame.
The checkbox can be somewhat misleading. See attached Firefox screenshot,
where the user is editing/selecting the b/w image, not the white/yellow one.
But then, there must be a reason for switching to checkboxes...

stella commentedHave you cleared your browser cache? The javascript changed in the last dev release, please ensure you upgraded correctly. The checkboxes do not appear for me.
If it still occurs, please tell me on which page the checkboxes appear - manage avatars, user registration or user account edit. Also please send me a link to your site so I can take a closer look. My contact form is enabled if you wish to do so privately.
Cheers,
Stella

skizzo commentedYes, I tried to clear the browser cache.
After restarting my PC now I don't see the check boxes anymore.
Javascript is (and was) enabled, but for some reason the browser
behaved as if it was not (which would bring up the check boxes).
I am closing this issue, will reopen if need be. Thank you.
