I've just recently tried to upgrade from v2.2 to v2.3 and immediately after replacing the old version I get

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting ')' in /modules/filefield/filefield.module on line 216

I've seen other issues on this same type of error but I'm resubmitting because we aren't running PHP4 and from what I've read this was supposed to be fixed in the last RC.

turns out our server is not running 5 although is was saying it is.
