I tried twice to install the mail_edit module and always get the error (appearing several times directly below each other):

warning: Missing argument 1 for mail_edit_menu() in C:\xampp\htdocs\modules\mail_edit\mail_edit.module on line 4.

On the modules administration page (by modules) I get the same error once and there are no settings to be seen.

i commited the code incorrectly. i commited it to HEAD instead of DRUPAL-6--1.

i've since rectified the issue. in the following 12 hours the tar file will be regenerated with the correct 6.x code
