images for a family page

I'm looking at setting-up a family home page and need a user-friendly way of adding images into content and creating galleries.
New install so 5.x or 6.x will work
There seem to be several options but I'm looking for recommendations simplest and prettiest (I know those sometimes don't go together) way of setting this up.
Thanks

I suggest TinyMCE and IMCE
If you don't have hundreds of images to process in bulk, I suggest using TinyMCE as your text editor (I know others will differ) and IMCE to handle the uploads, and optionally thumbnail generation.
When I just want an image associated with a paragraph of text I anchor the image to the beginning of the paragraph and place it either right or left. If I want to show a number of images together I insert a table and use that for alignment, usually using two or three columns.
For a neat, WOW feature, display thumbnails in your body and use Thickbox to link to larger images. It's an impressive effect and not very difficult to manage.
Good luck,
Me
Thought I'd add that I use
Thought I'd add that I use TinyMCE and IMCE too. They can be mighty slow, at least for me, but they get the job done.
Like you, I tend to place an image at the top of the paragraph, and place it left or right. The results look good.
However, lately I've been working with the Image Attach module instead, letting me specify an image file to upload at the time of node creation (or pick one from previously-loaded). Using "weight" in the Image settings, I can also choose whether they image will appear at the top or bottom of the node.
The result is much more limited than TinyMCE+IMCE: I can only attach ONE image (as far as I can tell so far), and it'll appear in a fixed spot at the top or bottom of the node. But, when that result is what I want anyway, I like it as a method faster and easier than IMCE.
Oh, and Thickbox? Haven't played with that, but will have to. I've heard good things.
