How to create a template or default text in a node (e.g. how to have a story node start with default text)?

I've been scouring the boards and the documentation and I can't seem to find out how to have default text in my story nodes (e.g. a default template).

For example, when someone creates a story node, I want there to already be text there that says, for example. "and thanks again for visiting our site."

Do I need to create a new node type, or is there an easy way to do this with a plain story node.
