Template Confusion

I am confused on which theme to use for my new website. This is my first experience working with drupal. I think its a wonderful CMS. My site is a social networking site. I have browsed and tried some of the themes on the site. I have been using bluemarine but I found yesterday that it was distorted when I checked the site from another computer (looked ok on mine). The options on the site here are a bit overwhelming. Any suggestions on a good theme for a social networking site? I'd like something that is browser independent and with at least 3 columns? Any luck?

Theme is your identity
and you really should be looking for something unique - or at least customised, to make the site your own.
I'm going to reccomend Tapestry, from roopletheme.com. This is a free theme, and is very configurable in terms of columns, blocks, colours, menus, icons.... you should be able to do anything you want with this theme. It's also fully CSS and W3C compliant to boot.
Not connected in any way; but I use this theme on my site and love it!

ok will try that
I found the "whitejazz" template closest to what I wanted but my panels are still be distorted. Any other suggestions ...
