DVH (drupalvaluehosting.com) is not good company!
EgorfromMurmansk - July 8, 2008 - 16:15
This is unbearable! My site is not running again, every day. What's happening? Every day there is an error: "Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. "
Hosting Packages - Worlds Best Hosting Package (Super Monster Servers)
We are investing big money in this site and trust you. How long will it last?
Where the answers?!!

That does not sound good. A few days ago I read complaint from another person. If I am not mistaken, a couple of months ago I saw some articles here by DVH folks praising it and I must say I was impressed by all that they were offering ......
DVH destroy our business
Our site does not work about 6 hours! "Internal Server Error". It greeeat "Worlds Best Hosting Package (Super Monster Servers)".
My emotions have reached the limit!
I'm on the same server and
I'm on the same server and my sites are working.
My last "Internal Server Error" occurred when I was messing around the .htaccess file when attempting to incorporate some spam trapping technique. Maybe, try reverting back to a stock standard .htaccess file.

dvh and stock .htaccess file
Hi, my sites remain up, but i have things to look in to with phplist it stops at sending out 44 emails, so currently looking in to this. where can I find a stock .htaccess file?
I have the same problem of my support tickets not being answered either.
Oh and my other problem of my public_html folders for many of my domains there filling up with core files.
You can find a default
You can find a default .htaccess file in your Drupal installation files. All you need to do is alter the default basic settings to your settings. Check whether you still get the internal server errors, if not, keep modifying, bit by bit, until you get the internal server errors.
I don't really understand what you mean by 'core files' filling up your public_html directory.

core files
thanks you for the .htaccess info. the core files I think are memory dumps and they keep adding themselves corexxxx where xxx is a number. I just go delete them ever few days. and I usually have about 150 to 400 of them at a time.
only thing I have on this poticular site is drupal and phplist.
> the core files I think are
> the core files I think are memory dumps
They are caused by your site 'crashing' apache. Probably you have a misconfigured cron job.
One corexxxx file is created everytime a bad cronjob is run.
I'm surprised your site is still running, or that your host hasn't suspended your account.
Don't you get an email everytime the cron fails?
Pease! Turn on my site!
Pease! Turn on my site!
My site not working again.
You understand that you are doing? Our company has suffered enormous losses because of you!
time to move I think
Yes, it is time to move from drupalvaluehosting.com, it is to bad, site started out great, but everything is dying I now have mailing list that don't work, heck I'm not going to list things here.
does anyone have any experience with hostgater.com or acenet.net
Thanks.
drupalvaluehosting is goind down
Hi,
Well I did not want to post this, but drupalvaluehosting (DVH) must be going away soon.
mailing lists are no longer working.
cpanel Invalid license for Main IP Address: 74.86.110.146 So no more cpanel for any of my domains.
whm panel has been broke for ages
the same ip is on some spam lists
cron jobs stopped working for some of my domains
on some of my domains the public_html is filling up with core files
some of my phplist functions such as when it processes the msg queue no longer works.
No communication from anyone via their ticketing system or forums.
anyone from dvh care to respond to this here and publicly let us all know what is going on or is the company closing its doors.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get any data off since cpanel is now gone?
Thank you DVH for making me look like crap with my customors.
It is completely dead today On July 13, 2008
Hey, I am having the same problem here. Worse, I am spending money to advertise my site, only to find out that the server is down. It was down for a few hours yesterday, and then competely dead today (for 4 hours already). No response from DVH. I could not even login into DVH to submit a ticket... Every once a while, I got server down/database connection error...
This is really becoming worse and worse... I am losing my patience with this crappy... I admit it started ok, but i guess they cannot handle the increasing number of sites... and they obviously keep adding more to their server without considering that is overloading their server.
It is obviously one-man company. Amit probably works hard, not cannot keep up with the demand...
I signed up with the 2 year plan. Now, I am looking alternative. Do we have any other good choice?
HostGator
Well... even though my websites are still up and running, I am not taking the risk (and be nervous every single day whether my files and databases are safe or not, right now I am making backups every day) so... unless something DRASTICALLY changes in the next week or so, I am out of there. Even the DVH forum gives no official answers anymore, I think we were abandoned but I would like to be proven wrong.
As an alternative, I have cancelled Bluehost as well, and signed up for HostGator. What I like about them is if ever the need arises, I can go to a reseller account or even a dedicated server. Too bad I wasted money on DVH, but I can't take this insecurity any longer. Ah well, it wasn't too expensive fortunately.
Amit, please make me regret moving out!

Today cpanel dont work, and site.
Check out their forum
Check out their forum (drupalvaluehosting.info), the servers have been getting hacked so they keep disabling access to cpanel.
how to transfer my domain away
how do you guys transfer the domain away? I have one domain registered by DVH. I don't see there is anything in the CPanel that will allow me to unlock the domain and get the access code.
> I have one domain
> I have one domain registered by DVH. I don't see there is anything in the CPanel that

Do a whois and find out which domain registrar DVH used.
Write to them explaining that your host is unresponsive, and see if they will:
1) send you a form to disassociate your domain from DVH and start your own registration account with them
2) change the DNS to reflect your new webhost server
You probably won't be able to do 2) without doing 1) first.
After you have full control of your domain registration, if you want to transfer it out, ask them to:
· give you a transfer authentification code
· unlock the domain so it is ready for transfer (if this isn't done the transfer will fail)
· tell the new registrar to transfer-in, citing the auth code. It usually takes seven days.
However, if the registrar does not allow you to do 1) for some reason (eg. enom only allows
resellers to bulk register), I think the registrar will still probably give you an transfer auth code
directly, but you will still be at the mercy of DVH to:
· change the DNS to point to your new webhost
· unlock the domain for transfer
I've been in this position with BT España (webhost) and Nominalia (registrar). BTE closed our account without unlocking the domain, and Nominalia wouldn't deal with me at all directly. They left a large business without email and website for two months. They obviously thought it was funny to put my job in jeopardy, probably laughing at the daily emails, as I begged them to unlock the domain. I only got it done after officially complaining to BT in Britain. The point to that little story being, IF DVH are unresponsive and have a reseller account with someone, it might be worth trying to officially complain to whoever they have their account with.
In the future, don't do this
I could get free domain registering from my hosting company too, but I want the independence. Your situation validates my concern. You can register your site on the cheap at 1and1.com and 1cheapdomains.com.
I actually register all my
I actually register all my domains at http://namecheap.com. They are fantastic, never had any troubles. As for DVH, as of today I have moved all my sites to HostGator, better safe than sorry. I learned my (rather expensive) lesson and shall add it to the list of life experiences we all seem to need. At least I still got all my data...... I have a very succesful blog site and gallery (not Drupal) and I'd cry if we lost all these years of members input. They would NEVER forgive me!

i wish you luck.
unfortunately you have learned the hard way to NEVER keep your domain name with your hosting service.i was warned of that last year on these forums, and i learned my lesson the hard way. KEEP THEM SEPARATE ALWAYS. if you are offered a free one, by the hosting company just reject it or pick something you are are not fully investing in. i keep my domains at godaddy and namecheap, but i will NEVER host with them. now, if something is wrong with my hosting account, i go to godaddy or namecheap and put in the nameservers of my new account. lovely.
you will need to get the EEP codes from dvh for your domain. if you are transferring. but that is only after you have been with them for 60 days, see why its crucial to keep your domains separate?
if they dvh does not respond to your request, i think you may have to go to ENOM.COM and see what you options are, if will cost you, though. at least 35 dollars to get your name back.

Things seem to be running today
DVH posted something about a Romanian hack attack during the past week, luckily I was on vacation and didn't feel the pain. Everything seems to be working smoothly today. I have paid a year in advance and am just now ramping up some big sites at DVH. Keeping my fingers crossed that all is fixed now.
My site is also in DHV . I

Uh Oh, whm/cpanel is acting up big time
Can't create new accounts with WHM. Get error message "cannot create group." DNS is not updating. This does not look good. Also no one responded to trouble ticket from yesterday (though I'll cut them some slack since it's the weekend.)
I paid a year in advance just a few months ago. If I leave I'm out hundreds of dollars. I hate the idea of starting the search for a host all over again.
Sigh.
Try mmhosting.com
We have been using mmhosting.com since we setup a Drupal site in March. It's only been 5 months but the service has been fantastic, the site performance great and the support prompt and always friendly.
Izzy
Off topic, but...
MM advertises 2 TERABYTES of storage and 20 TERABYTES of (I'm assuming monthly) bandwidth for six bucks/month. Is this for real or a misprint?
When I hear "unlimited" bandwidth or storage (and this is nearly so), I think of slow, overloaded servers or worse. So I get suspicious, and wonder if accounts with smaller numbers might be a better choice. Of course it would be possible to use this type of account for huge file repositories.
Yes, the advertised amounts
Yes, the advertised amounts for mmhosting.com are striking and we questioned the company as to if it was a misprint and we were assured it is not. We haven't come anywhere close to the limits. As for speed, so far it seems very good. We are using the Feed Aggregator and this is the cause of some slow moments when they are updating, possibly something that might be rectified with a different configuration of our cron tasks. I am not aware of a set of benchmarks that can be used.
Most important for us was the helpfulness and availability of Moe.
Izzy
What about Hostgator
I'm on the search for a new ISP after wasting this weekend with Drupal Value Hosting. I want to run at least 5 sites from one install of Drupal 6. Eventually I want to add Civicrm when it is available. Can a Hostgator Reseller account handle this?

Hope
Hope everyone and amit will come out of difficulty shortly.
There are many site named
There are many site named with "Drupal" included, those type of web hosting companies are usually not good since there is really nothing special required in Drupal hosting except some basic privilege and the platform (php, mysql, etc), which are provided by most of Linux hosting companies.
if A company who can provide good service to Drupal, definitely, they want to win the custom who using Joomla, WordPress, and some other open source forum site since from technical side, the different is minor. With "Drupal" in the Domain name will limit their service to Drupal web sites, and which is hard to their business from long term.
A company without think about their long term growing plan, how can they take care of your business.

its called cornering a niche
its called cornering a niche market which seems like its being filled with people not up to the task.
its simply a seo method of attracting people looking to host their platform specific website.
smart people know that drupal isnt some magical thing that needs 'special' hosting, its the average layman you want to snag because hes not going around looking for 'PHP' hosting. only his platform, be it drupal, wordpress, whatever.

we were considering to
we were considering to migrate there.
What can you offer as a good hosting provider?
(we need to be able to add cname/aname entries on DNS, we need all our domain folders to be in the same level[not like a domain, and other addon domains in it's folder], we definitely need SSH access and flexible changes in php.ini or apache configuration)
Please DON'T DO IT!
DVH is not hosting company. I wait for support answer for 10 HOURS!!! My sites is down for 12 HOURS (!!!) on DVH. And no answer and email from their fu.. "support". And this is not first time. DVH is down and down everyday. Do you REALLY want to migrate this "hosting"?
Don't even consider it.
Don't even consider it.
I can't recommend them
Aside from the technical requirements listed on this site for Drupal (php/mysql/etc), I would recommend looking for a host that offers a php memory limit of at least 32mb. And, of course, good reliability and uptime.
DON'T
I'll chime in with DON'T consider DHV at this point. look at http://drupalvaluehosting.info/forum/dvh-support and see how their communication is right now (hint: it's non existent and heavily moderated, watch threads disappear with regularity). Amit, I am sorry about this. I had a link to DHV on my site for a while, wanting to support you, but you know it is not going well. Either come clean, and start communicating, or watch your lovely little company go down the drain. I already left, with pain in my heart, but I can't take this insecurity. I wasted money on two packages, and I learned my lesson. Thank goodness I learned it without great data losses, at least I can earn back the money. A reputation lost is a lot harder to mend... and I should have listened to my mind instead of my heart in the first place.
Once again, people, DO NOT sign up with DVH at this point!
After all these bad reviews
After all these bad reviews about them, we removed them from our consideration list. We got a VPS at http://www.a2b2.com they are very helpful. Even that I don't know much about VPS administration, I was able to migrate from my previous hosting without a problem in ~6 hours with their help.
