Hey,
We are developing a Social Networking Experience. Check out our teaser site, memurme.com. For platform in the beginning we were utilizing Drupal 5.7 and then made a transfer to Drupal 6 due to the friends module introduced. The notice feed and status updates are key. However, GMap and Location are lacking. These are two integral components needed to for our launch purposes to compliment some of the innovative features we will be offering. Also, the photo gallery module being specific to an individual user is not there for 6, its more community wide spread. Can anyone tell me when GMap and Location for Drupal 6 will be implemented? We are thinking of going back to Drupal 5.7 for the time being and will be looking for someone to write a friends module similar to facebook, myspace functionality for 5.7 if need be. If anyone has information for me or would like to hear more info on our project. I will be planning a nation wide college tour for our marketing purposes, I am a young college grad myself, and exposing Drupal Platform as our robust, agile means for memurme.com Social Networking Experience will be a top priority. Beta test purposes to be acknowledged in about 45 days time. Sign up under the Ipod.
Feel free to email me personally ....mlund@memurme.com
Thanks,
Michael Lund

zmove commentedHi,
Why going back to D5 and working on a friend module instead of keeping D6 and friend module and working on port of Gmap ?

memurme commentedWe made the move back to 5.7 but are having trouble customizing some of the modules for our purposes. We are looking for some programming assistance. I have a ton planned for this, a nation wide college tour in Sept to 21 Universities to showcase Drupal. Trying to hook up with acquia? I would like to get the drupal community involved and share my ideas with them. Memurme will be the beta sandbox for Social Networking Modules for Drupal. Do you know of anyone who would like to get involved?

tima commentedI'm looking for similar functionality for a site I am developing. Perhaps working together on these modules for Drupal 6 would be worthwhile.

The primary group for Location/Mapping stuff is here:

bdragon commentedDrupal 6 has at least as good support as Drupal 5 now, better than Drupal 5 in a few cases (views support, etc)
