Hey,
Have some issues we need some insight shed upon...We are developing a Social Networking Experience, check us out memurme.com
We started with Drupal 5.7, but recently changed to Drupal 6. The reason being is the friends module for 6 featuring the notice feed, status, etc.. really facebook functionality but amazing from a users p.o.v. However, we are lacking modules in 6 that are crucial to our development, for example GMap and Location. Does anyone know when these are arriving? These are important for an innovative feature our site will be offering, and pretty much is something we need to before launch. Also, for 6 the photo gallery image module is more community wide spread, whereas, not individualized for a members own personal gallery. It think we all know for a SN site this is imperative. We are looking for an instant message module that shows online friends and ability to chat. Our demands are strong. However, we are scheduling a nation wide college tour to expose Drupal s our base platform, and convey why it is an effective and efficient for both vibrant solid standing social networking communities and both startups looking to secure a solid base. Our catch 22 is do we go back to 5.7 where GMap and Location are prevalent and lose that friends module functionality or do we wait to see what happens with 6? My goal and dream would be to have Location, gMap, friends Module, and instant message module scheduled and launched at the same time during our beta test period. Check out the site memurme.com, it is only a teaser site with little to no functionality. We are aiming to beta test with 1,000 users sometime in august. So sign up your name and email under the ipod for our data purposes. If someone can give me some feedback, answers to my questions, I would be so grateful. For more information on our project and our "documemurme" first ever social networking documentary capturing the startup of our company and taking our show on the road, or even if you would like to get involved from a development point please feel free to email me personally...mlund@memurme.com
