After reading project page descriptions I downloaded, hostmaster into profiles, provision, hosting, views and drush into modules. Attempting to install the hostmaster profile results in the message "The cvs_deploy module is required but was not found. Please move it into the modules subdirectory."

I confirm this issue, it seems that cvs_deploy is required, I found two lines while grepping...

I did make the dependency more precise in http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=126610 but it is true that the docs need to be updated.
