update.php not running?

i followed the upgrade instructions and ran /update.php

when i run this file, I get the home page. It doent show me errors nor progress. No logs nothing.

Any ideas.

I remember doing upgrades and seeing some feedback of the upgrade. The status report says 5.8 but the db is untouched.
