editing what goes in the notifications

How do you edit what tokens are included in the notifications emails? i am used to using the Subscriptions module and for that I use the mail_edit module but I see that the mail_edit module doesn't seem to support the notifications module (?)

I want to add things like the start and stop times to event notifications, taxonomy terms tagged to a post, the title of the email (to include site name), etc.
