my og doesn't show up as a group

Maybe I'm doing something wrong and this is a support request...

In the documentation it says there is og integration. In the UI there is a section called Group Assign. I have a new site with one group. The group didn't show up. Even though I am a member and administrator of it, I changed it from private to public and it still didn't show up. So I tried making it an open group rather than invite only (as an admin of the group, I thought that would be fine, but no), I then made the group available on the signup form. But still no groups are available in the groups section for user import.

No sure what my issue is.
