Check out the new av-club (http://avclub.com/content/home) section of the onion. Is there any way to figure out if they're using Drupal as their CMS?

If you look at the source for the page it has comments that would strongly suggest they are not using Drupal.

If you have a looke at their content, they're using node.
Example : http://avclub.com/content/node/25219 it also work with the leading ?q=

That's a pretty nice design, I think it owes its place in drupal sites gallery.

Their URL structure strongly suggests that they *are* running Drupal:

http://avclub.com/content/search/node
http://avclub.com/content/user/login
http://avclub.com/content/node/1 (notice how it looks like they've changed their input filters since publishing this node)

From their HTML you can also see that it is a relatively recent version of Drupal:

 <!-- begin content --><f_orm action="user/login?destination=user%2Flogin" method="post">
<div class="form-item">

How long has the destination parameter been with us?

Cool!

The Onion has always had a great website and they are one of the bigger/more popular "news" sites out there. This is a huge win for Drupal and just goes to show how powerful and compelling it is. It would be cool to get an interview with them and ask them why they chose Drupal and other stuff for a Drupal newsletter.

Email A Friend, Pagation, Printable Articles... I am so jealous.

I think that what make the onion look so great for me is that it didn't have a drupal basic look, I mean, it's way out the bluemarine style we used too (and sick off maybe :D).
So basically, yes I could be jealous, but with a lot of work you can achieve a totally different looking drupal powered site.

And for your wonders...
- Print Friendly Pages
- Email This Page
- Pagination

Then some nice icons and you get it...

That homepage layout is quite tasty ... Does anyone know if that's a module in contrib, or something custom by the onion?

This should put to rest any questions about Drupal scaling well.

tostinni’s picture

to get their feedback about this, I hope they will answer me.
See their Introducing The Onion's New Look message.

This would be a fabulous high-profile case study to have on-site here.

Yes, you are right: they SWITCH over to DJANGO:

So the question of the scalability of Drupal has been resolved --- on the negative.
