Vested Interest - a bands website

webthingee - July 13, 2008 - 15:00

Client:
Vested Interest

Task:
new website - their first website

Planning Summary:
TIME TO START USING DRUPAL 6 !!!
clear, quick, expandable. Something that they could input their own photos, text, change artists, change music selections, and add as they felt.

Design & Direction:
This time I wanted something a little more web 2.0, and they loved it. Colors are manly, yet inviting.

Launched:

Drupal Highlights and notes:
Working without imagefield sucks, can't wait for the D6 port!
jQ Media very cool, took me a little while, the tutorial video helped.... but remember to add a .swf player to the root install
FileField is very versicle and can be quite helpful, was better than I was expecting and I think I will be using it for some mp3's on my next build.
Frequently Asked Questions... let's hear it for open source! I was asked to add this feature to the website, and lowandbehold there it was in the modules for all to share!!! Works great, cool features, very happy with it indeed!

Outcome:
I am really happy with this site. Designing for the user to access and utilize the back end for adding their own content was really exciting and forced me to really think about some bugginess issues, new fixes, and some workarounds. I spent today with the client and walked him through the back end, explained content, views, and blocks... I have it set up pretty straight forward so there are only a few options for him to use. bottom line: He loves it, I am happy with the outcome! YEA!

You nailed it!
It took some time to design... well simply... sounds funny, but it's true.

Thanks for the props!

can you run through a little

timmillwood - July 18, 2008 - 08:59

can you run through a little how to on getting the MP3 block?

are the mp3s nodes?
are they displayed as a view?
etc

Here's the highlights

webthingee - July 18, 2008 - 22:23

I basically used this http://drupaltherapy.com/node/50, a Video Tutorial by Sean Effel from Drupal Therapy! I just substituted an mp3 file instead of a video file.... one note, you have to include a swf player in your root directory. There are several online, I am still trying to decipher which ones are o.k. to use, some don't work properly, some are not free.

They are nodes. (the client can add them as he needs)
They are a view. (set to display most recent)
All done in D6.

If you need more assistance, I would be glad to help... just hit up my contact info.

Rocks!
