folksonomy

This link: http://drupal.org/node/21117 seems like an excellent way to overcome the reason for having categories.

(You will find it as a link next to the heading 'tags'.)

I do not suppose it is acutally around?!

particularly with drupal 6

Inicidentally the folksonomy module is supposed to part of core but i can't find it on my standard drupal 6 site.

Any ideas where it is?!

"Folksonomy" is just another name for free tagging. It's a standard choice in the Drupal taxonomy system any time you create a vocabulary.

Just done a bit of googleing - perhaps i mean 'tag cloud' or 'tagadelic'

...

Tagadelic does provide a tag cloud http://drupal.org/project/tagadelic

I've got two instances set up here.

But a folksonomy shouldn't replace anything - especially in Drupal. The way it's set up now is that the site owner has control - sometimes a folksonomy just wont work.
